Disney's BRAVE

Disney’s BRAVE

I know I might be a bit late with this, and I am sure most of you have probably gone and seen Disney’s BRAVE already. I went to see it with my mom and my son last weekend and I can honestly say I enjoyed it and will definitely be buying it when it comes out vid– DVD! Haha. Still haven’t gotten used that. I grew up in the VHS era. CHANGE IS HARD!!

Anyway, this movie is very different from their other “Princess Tales”. Seriously, it’s so much more realistic. No dead parents, no marriage and babies at the age of 16. It deals with the struggles every day teens endure with their mother’s. Getting people to understand them, accept them, and all that. It reminded me of some the hard times I had with my mom and how we worked through it together. Can’t wait till I have to deal with this stuff myself. *eye roll*

Poor Merida grew up learning to be a warrior like her father. A choice she made. But when it came time to become a lady and choose marriage over weapons and fun, she wanted nothing of it. Enter her mother, teaching her to be a Queen so that she may bring the clans of Scotland together and avoid war. That’s when Merida wished to have her mother changed so she wouldn’t have to go through with the betrothal so she could continue to be herself and do what she wanted to do. Then it all goes wrong, and that’s where the story really starts.

If you haven’t seen it, you really should. I cried through most of the movie myself. It was just that beautiful and awesome. And don’t let the prudes whining about nekkid Scottish butt’s turn you away. ‘Cause yes, there are old man hiney’s in the movie but only for a second (they used their kilts to escape a locked room), but honestly, that’s one part in a whole movie. Ignore them. Go see it. Take your kids. You’ll all love it.
